Hoping I can stay

i started studying with witnesses about 21 months ago.

started going to meetings in march 2017, went to the memorial and attended my first convention.

Sadly, most J.W.'s realise too late that they don't have to discuss their private lives with the elders - or anyone else for that matter. Quietly tell one of these wolves that you don't wish to discuss your private & personal situation with anyone at the moment. DO NOT SPEAK WITH 2 ELDERS AT THE SAME TIME! Politely inform him that you have done nothing which requires elders involvement.

The elders reaction to your positive stance will prove that J.W.'s are cult-driven. Time for you to leave and be thankful you didn't get in deeper. Many here will envy you. Best wishes.

he made light of his role and the rest of management's predicament by saying on a public broadcast: "in doing the math we found that the amount of money flowing out will be much greater than the amount of money coming in at this time".

clearly the guys on the gb have very little business sense to let things get so out of hand with tons of projects in the works and having to close all of them except for warwick, and one in england.. i have to wonder just what type of math these dead heads on the gb even know or consider when making all their plans for the future of the corporation they have leadership over.

The Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses is nothing more than a group of men who have been put into a position of public oversight and alleged spiritual authority of a religious denomination - in other words, front-men or puppets. Individually, not one of them has any financial management or business expertise which would qualify their running of a multi-billion dollar corporation. They are simply the issuers & enforcers of WTBTS's laws and regulations.

For me, Brokenkite's most profound and factual statement (with one disagreement) was this - And instead of targeting a J.W. audience, which is mostly futile, I think a well-balanced, factual, and emotional approach to a secular audience would put more pressure on Watchtower.

Bethelites will most likely be in one of two camps - either they will be totally in awe of their golden calf - the WTBTS, or they have come to realise that their choice of servitude to the org has resulted in their social, familial, and mental imprisonment. Neither party's hearts or minds will be reached by such a method. It's like the J.W. claim that trolley-zombieism is giving "a great witness."

Mostly futile? I'd say totally.

In theory, can one be disfellowshipped for attempted suicide?

so i was recently reading the reasons for disfellowshipping as listed in shepherd the flock of god.

the handbook is available online here: https://thetruthofjehowaswittness.files.wordpress.com/2012/12/jehovas-vitner.pdf.. on page 59, point #4, it lists attempted suicide as a reason for disfellowshipping.

has it ever been removed?

I was recently informed that a brother has been disfellowshipped for slander because he'd rightfully accused his wife (elder's daughter) of adultery.

The wolves will justify the motive between themselves, and then rip to pieces their victim.

A Little Direction Please

i'm an active elder, cobe, just got home from the meeting where i handled the treasures part and concluded by announcing a friend of mine has been d/f,.....blah blah blah...and over the last year have woken up.

i simply cannot spill my guts to my wife and children as it would be family suicide.

i have zero desire to bash, spread my feelings, or become an "apostate".

Learning from others who have already travelled the road you are now on will be of the utmost help to you. You are now an "apostate"of the WTBTS - not of Christianity. Feel good about it. Each person can only give you advice from their personal perspective and how it impacted on their family members.

The sooner you resign as an Elder "for personal & private reasons" the better. Under no circumstances give any reasons to anyone - especially your wife! This will get the ball rolling, and people's towards you will noticeably change. Once you do so, your wife will start to see the conditional love and friendship disappear from some/many and her eyes and mind will very quickly discern things she'd never noticed or considered before. She will then want to discuss topics which are taboo at the moment. That will be your cue to help your wife and family fade together. This is exactly how it has worked out for one of my family who was an elder. His zealous JW wife has now seen The Truth About The Truth. (TTATT)

The letter says, "If there are excess funds, the elders may decide to recommend that the congregation(s) pass a resolution to donate the excess funds to Kingdom Hall and Assembly Hall construction worldwide."

Is there such a named and specific fund for "Kingdom Hall & Assembly Hall Construction"? (KH & AHC)

I distinctly remember the org's 4 page money-grabbing letter mentioned KH & AHC more than 20 times, but then said that the org would use the money for whatever it desired. The blood-sucking WTBTS continues to suck.
